Depression Drug Derangement

By the time our second child was eight, my wife had gained a lot of weight, and she hated herself. She became a mean and angry woman, and then extremely depressed.

I'd come home from work and the house would be disgustingly messy (see photos), the kids would be watching TV, and she'd be in bed.

Or when she was up she would always have a mean tone to her voice whether talking to me or the kids. She called all other women "sluts" unless the other woman was overweight.

Her doctor prescribed her medications including Zoloft and other depression drugs.

While the depression drugs helped with her laying in bed all day. It also changed her basic personality.

I've known her and had been going out with her since she was 16 years old (I was 18), and she was now 38, so I know her very well. And I can tell she was no longer acting like herself.

And she is not going to report to the doctor that her personality has changed because she doesn't realize she has changed.

Prior to the medications when she would go off and yell at me or the kids, later she would feel bad and try to make up. But now on the medication it emboldened her and she no longer felt bad after blowing up.

And the meds made it so whatever thought came to her mind the meds made it seem like a good idea, and would make her do things that the pre-medicated person wouldn't do. I call it "Depression Drug Derangement".

Eventually we separated and years later divorced. And in the divorce process she made up a bunch of lies and tried to claim I was abusive, which was the opposite of reality because she was the verbally and physically abusive one.

To give you an idea of how she was, below are actual voicemails she left at my office.

One Saturday she got all upset and took off in her car. The kids and I tried calling her and calling her all night but she wouldn't answer or turned the phone off.

Then Sunday morning she came home still very drunk from the night before, hanging onto the counter tops to hold herself up.

She started yelling at me and hitting me as I walked out of the room. She followed me and kept hitting me in the back of the head. And she was saying stuff like, "why don't you hit me back", "what are you going to hit me?", which is crazy talk cause I had never hit her ever in our 22+ year relationship. I turned around and she slapped me across the face and my glasses went flying into the other room. I turned around and she kept following and hitting me, and as she was winding up to slap me again I instead slapped her lightly. She made a big dramatic scene out of it and I left.

Later I was thinking, why was she saying that "are you going to hit me" stuff, and I realized she had planned this with the person she has spent the night with. I think they had planned and sent her back to the house that morning with the goal of getting me to do something that she could call the police about.

And sure enough, the next day she took the kids to the police station where she filed a complaint against me. In the complaint that she signed it said that I was the aggressor and that I "punched her in the face"!

Not only was that not true, I have never punched anyone in the face my whole life! And it was her that was the aggressor and was hitting me repeatedly.

According to her, the police officers pressured her into signing the false report (listen to recording below).

Later in court she admitted that it was a false statement. But at first the court said they didn't believe her recanting the story, and only believed her original complaint. However luckily the case was eventually dismissed.
